Any event that takes place in a location where goods or services are sold for profit or that have an entrance fee, even if hosted by a charity or non-profit, qualifies as a retail event. Retail stores connected to or ran by non-profits are also categorized as retail (for example, Goodwill stores).

Corporate events are those held or sponsored by a private (usually for-profit) company, either for their employees, their customers, the public, or any combination of those. Corporate events often take place at the company’s place of business (office building).
